HAPPENING FRIDAY: Governor kicks off statewide cleanup

Two-day statewide litter event runs April 17–18, ahead of Earth Day

WHAT: Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham will join Daniel and Luis Moncada, also known as the “Salamanca Cousins” — ambassador characters from the hit TV series Breaking Bad — to kick off the Great New Mexico Cleanup. The cleanup is part of the state's Breaking Bad Habits litter prevention campaign and is the largest coordinated cleanup effort in state history. The two-day event, planned as a lead-up to Earth Day on April 22, will bring New Mexicans together for litter pickup and beautification efforts across the state.

WHO: Governor Lujan Grisham will visit select locations, outlined below. Members of the media are invited to attend the kickoff e vent in Española as well as the events in Taos, Los Lunas and Socorro . The kickoff event in Española will include a community celebration and a lowrider parade. Media interviews with the governor and community partners are available upon request.
