Governor announces judicial appointments

SANTA FE – Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham on Monday announced two additional judicial appointments.

Gov. Lujan Grisham selected Denise Thomas to fill the judicial vacancy at the First Judicial District Court in Santa Fe, and Timothy Rose for the vacant seat at the Tenth Judicial District Court in Tucumcari.

The appointments follow the retirement of the Honorable Judge Sylvia LaMar and the Honorable Judge Albert J. Mitchell, Jr.

Thomas’s legal career spans more than two decades. Most recently, her work has centered on representing clients in family law matters involving divorce, custody, child support, adoption, estate planning and probate. Thomas is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin and Tulane Law School. She was admitted to the New Mexico bar in 2002.

Rose has served the public as the elected district attorney of the Tenth Judicial District Attorney’s Office since 2013. Prior to that, he performed the duties of assistant district attorney at the same office. Rose is a graduate of the University of New Mexico and Texas Tech School of Law. He was admitted to the New Mexico bar in 2000.

Both appointments commence on March 29.
